Treaty of Berwick 1357
The Scottish wanted their rightful king, David II back home. He had been missing 11 years since the Battle of Neville's Cross in 1346. The Treaty of Berwick in 1357 gave Edward Balliol the Scottish crown and allowed David II to return to his homeland in exchange for ransom.
Despite Edward Balliol's return to the throne, he would never be accepted by the Scottish people. This treaty officially ended the Second War of Scottish Independence.
